Seattle Weekend Edition for 10/04/08

by Kyla Myers

Since I failed you guys the past two weekends, I’m going to try and get the weekend edition up early, or at least on time this week!

Get started on your weekend a bit early and head over to the Puyallup Fairgrounds for the Scandinavian Heritage Festival. Three full days of festivities with Scandinavian cultural exhibits, arts and crafts, music, food, folk dancing and Scandinavian gift items. There are some really cool sounding demonstrations on spinning, rosemailing, weaving & bobbin lace making. Additionally there will be every kind of yummy sounding Scandinavian food you can imagine. From Swedish pancakes to meatballs to home made breads. Yummy! Go early Friday and get in FREE.

Or, if you’d like to take a little drive and celebrate Oktoberfest in a more German setting, head out to Leavenworth.

A giant bon fire, big band music, s’mores and scary stories in the dark! A perfect way to celebrate the season. Face painting available. It’s a free family event that’s a sure hit.

For those of you looking for a bit more adult entertainment and you’re not afraid of a few Zombies, the the Zombie Pub Crawl might be right up your alley. Billed as the first “Zombie Social” of the year, this is a NO KIDS, 21 and older event. Zombies get up out of your resting place early and pull your outfit together because there is no cover before 9:30. Arrive dressed to kill EARLY, and get stamped so you can come and go as the night progresses without paying the regular $7.00 at the door. It’s also a good time to bring out your zombie sketches and copies of short stories etc. to share with people who love that sh*t. Try out mixing with the living, then revel in the revolting nature of your own kind. Alcohol preserves rotting flesh so….. “Bottoms up! This is also a great opportunity to chat up the locals about the zombie film genre before the zombie Film festival next Saturday and plenty of folks in the mob to chat with you about the unique indie films that will be screened at the second annual Revenant Zombie Film Festival.
